Uralita acquires a glass wool insulation
company in Turkey
· The acquisition of this factory, with a production capacity of 15,000
tons/year, positions Uralita as a key player in the insulation Turkish
market.
· This operation represents a further step in Uralita?s
internationalization strategy, actually generating over 90% of its
sales outside Spain.
· Glass wool is the most efficient solution for reducing energy
consumption and acoustic insulation for buildings.
Madrid, 22 of September 2008.- Uralita, the building materials leading Spanish
manufacturer, has successfully closed the acquisition of the glass wool insulation
business from the Turkish company Özpor. This Acquisition includes a factory located
in Polatli, near Ankara, with a production capacity of 15,000 tons/year. This factory will
join URSA?s (Uralita insulation materials and systems division) network of 14 factories
in countries like Russia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium, France and
Spain.
Uralita believes Turkey is an ideal platform for expansion towards the Middle East, and
a complement to its presence in Eastern Europe, where the company is already one of
the key players: ? We consider this investment to be an important decision that will
allow us to continue with our geographical expansion in areas where we are not
present? ? said Javier Serratosa, Uralita?s Chairman and C.E.O., ?The construction
markets in Turkey and the Middle East are rapidly transforming and offer attractive
business opportunities. Uralita has decided to make this investment in Turkey with the
intention of positioning itself as a key player in this market, where we want to establish
a solid growth platform for the future?.
URSA was already present in the Turkish thermal and acoustic insulation materials,
through its product range URSA GLASWOOL. The recently acquired capacity in
Turkey will enable the company to establish a leading position in this market and
provide a better level of service to its customers.
Glass wool: The most efficient insulation material
Uralita, after several months of analyses, considers the evolution of the Turkish thermal
and acoustic insulation markets to be very positive over the past years. Furthermore, it
expects that the usage of insulation materials in the in buildings will continue increasing
in the future, specially in the current context of high oil prices and ever greater
concerns on environmental issues.
Glass wool is the most efficient solution to reduce energy consumption and achieve
acoustic insulation in all types of buildings. URSA is prepared to take advantage of the
superiority of this material that reduces energy costs and contributes to preserving the
environment.
